The murals of Dambulla, 148 kilometers north-east of Colombo, in Sri Lanka, cover an area of 2,100 square meters. They are located in the five caves that make up the complex of the Golden Temple, included, in 1991, among the sites considered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In addition to the paintings that illustrate various episodes of the Buddha’s life, in the caves, regarded along the same lines as temples in a still active monastery, 153 statues of the Enlightened One , 3 statues of kings of different local dynasties and 4 statues of Hindu gods are conserved. The photographs of the shoot were taken on March 9th, 2014.
